Kindergarten Transition

Beginning Kindergarten is a significant milestone for every child and their family. At St Patrick’s, we want our newest students to feel confident, comfortable and excited as they take their first steps into primary school life.

Our Kindergarten Transition Program is designed to help children become familiar with their new learning environment, meet their teachers and peers, and build a sense of belonging before the school year begins. These gentle introductions support a smooth and positive start, helping children feel ready for their first day.

We also recognise the importance of strong partnerships with families. The program provides opportunities for parents and carers to learn more about school routines, expectations and how we work together to support each child’s learning and wellbeing.

Program Overview

Our Transition to Kindergarten sessions are held during November and are designed for both children and parents to attend. Families will receive detailed information, including dates and times, ahead of the program.

Our aim is to:

  • Support each child to transition confidently and comfortably into school life
  • Welcome new families and provide insights into how our school operates
  • Strengthen connections with existing families and siblings already at St Patrick’s
  • Build a supportive network among incoming Kindergarten parents
  • Introduce families to key staff who will play an important role in their child’s learning journey

Our transition program helps ensure every child begins their learning journey feeling known, supported and ready to thrive.
